Just phoning it in.
Phoning it in, is a colloquial term for just going through the motions. Not putting any effort into something. Instead of taking care of it directly, you just do the minimal amount to satisfy whatever it is you are trying to do. So, when do you feel like giving up? It's when you realize how long it takes to do something, and wished it was done quicker. Except it doesn't. You know what you are supposed to do, and you do it regardless of whether you want to or not. It is you life on rails. The meaning of why you are here, flows through that moment. That moment is when you see your life on rails for the first time. Pattern implies reason, reason implies purpose. When you have to have an alarm to wake you up for the job that you have, and you basically do the same thing over and over driving in, doing a job, driving home. go to bed, repeat, repeat, repeat.
